Welcome To AuroraSpark
AuroraSpark is a new website geared towards social networking. We aim to provide a seamless experience for you to communicate with your friends. As such, we will need a lot of time to program everything, so please, have patience.

You can email us at support@auroraspark.com if you need any help or want some news or advice

UPDATE:

  1. We are making good progress on the backend of the website system.
IPv6 is here!
You can now connect to AuroraSpark on IPv6!
irc6.auroraspark.com
The port we're using is a nonstandard IRC port, so you'll need to specify port 8888 in your connect line.

For example, in irssi:
/server irc6.auroraspark.com 8888
Some changes to AuroraSpark
Over the last few days we have been playing with different chat platforms to see which is best for you as a user. We have decided to use UnrealIRCd3.2.9 as it offers the best flexibility and we already have several bits of code (called modules) which help protect you.

We will go over some of these and what they do.

m_nonotice; this module prevents users from sending you notices which may contain harmful links, porn or other offensive/undesireable content.

noctcp; this module can enable you to block CTCPs which range from PING, to VERSION to TIME, by default, you get mode +T which prevents CTCPs to your client, but this module futher enables you to block /ME or even channel CTCPs.

m_privdeaf; allows you to disable PMs by doing /MODE <username> +D (Case sensitive). Once this is set users trying to PM you will get a message stating that you have disabled PMs.

m_minprot; This module will be default for any user under 16 years of age so only administrators can PM you.

m_ircops; using this command will give you a list of online IRC operators (Administrators) and will also tell you if they are marked as away or not.

We feel these modules are needed for your safety, so if you have any concerns about them, please feel free to email us at support@auroraspark.com and we will aim to reply within 24 hours.
IPv6
Over the next week, we're going to be rolling out IPv6 on the chat platform. This will only be beneficial to you if you use irssi (through a server) or ZNC.
The reason for this is that ISPs such as BT, Plusnet and BEthere do not yet provide IPv6 connectivity to their customers, although in mid to late 2012 they should have this in place as the IPv4 allocation is set to run out at this point.

We hope that our website DNS panel suppliers enable IPv6 DNS tables soon so that we can get our website running on IPv6 and have some human-readable links for that instead of the IPv6 format: 2001:41d0:2:b83b:0:1:4d5:a1d4
Or its full format: 2001:41d0:0002:b83b:0000:0001:04d5:a1d4/128
